Dear Friends of Norfolk Catholic School,
Norfolk Catholic has been educating children since 1926 with outstanding results. On behalf of the Sacred Heart Parish family and our Norfolk Catholic School Community, I am thrilled to welcome you to our website and the opportunity to learn more about our amazing PreK-12 school.
I am most grateful for your interest in seeking a faith-based education within our school. I am eager for you to learn more about our school and our work in preparing young people for success in elementary school, high school, college and beyond. We are a close-knit Catholic community who has the unique benefit of a vibrant, dynamic parish on site. Our school is graced with the leadership of our pastor, Fr. Dan Andrews, who places Catholic education at the top of his priorities and is committed to the quality faith-formation of those he shepherds.
I have recently been gifted the opportunity to be the president of this amazing school and am looking forward to meeting all the students, staff, teachers, parents, alumni and all our present and future community supporters. God has blessed me with the privilege of serving as a principal for twenty-eight years, twenty-one as a Catholic elementary principal and seven as a 7-12 public school principal. My hope and expectation is to utilize those experiences to build upon the multiple successes our school is already experiencing. This can be accomplished by teaching, modeling, and expecting each person within our school community to follow God’s call by working hard at being the best version of themselves. We achieve that by raising the bar of expectations for ourselves and our students so that we are constantly moving from good to great in all we do.
I am privileged to be part of a community that, while rich in tradition and timeless values, thrives on change, embraces opportunity, and provides a learning environment for students that gives them the tools to adapt, engage, lead, and serve. As president, I have the distinct honor to ensure that our Mission, “Walking With You to Meet Jesus” is present in all areas of the school including our Catholic Identity, curricular programs, co-curricular program, financial policies, and our presences in the Norfolk community. I partner with our wonderful parish and school staff to live this mission in all we say, think and do. A major key to our success and ability to live that mission will be the continued dedication and support of our parents, parishioners, and all the wonderful people in the Norfolk community.
Yours in Christ,
Don Ridder, Ed.D.
President of Norfolk Catholic
