Sacred Heart Parish currently uses the Godparent program for students who are in grades 9-12 as a way to
continue religious formation in our young people. This concept works by placing students in small groups of 8-10 students with a couple in our Parish that meets with them once a week in their home. During these weekly gatherings, the students and Godparent couple talk and share about various current event issues, topics, etc. In the 9th grade Godparent group the students are prepared to receive the sacrament of Confirmation.
The idea of Godparents is to form a faith-sharing group that is not in the setting of a classroom but to keep our students engaged in the faith through the rest of their high school days through and following Confirmation. Godparent groups also have social events away from the home and actively participate in service projects.
All Godparent groups come together at least twice during the school year for a social activity.
