As Christians we are called to know and love God, and to follow Jesus Christ. As members of the Roman Catholic Church we never cease to
proclaim our faith in one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This faith is a gift of God. Believing is possible only by grace and the interior helps of the Holy Spirit. The Catechism of the Catholic Church states: “This faith seeks understanding”. It further states: “It is intrinsic to faith that a believer desires to know better the One in whom he has put his faith and to understand better what He has revealed; a more penetrating knowledge will in turn call forth a greater faith, increasingly set afire by love.” In other words, the more we know and understand our faith – the stronger it will be.
St. Augustine said: “I believe in order to understand; and I understand, the better to believe.”
